The updated BitNami Stacks for PHP-based web development now include the Amazon AWS PHP SDK, which simplifies development of PHP applications that run on top of Amazon Web Services such as EC2 and S3.
San Francisco, CA. October 12, 2010. -- BitNami, the project that simplifies the process of deploying and managing web applications natively, virtually and in the cloud, released today updated BitNami Stacks for developing PHP applications for the cloud. The updated BitNami Stacks now include the Amazon Web Services PHP Software Development Kit ("AWS PHP SDK"), which makes it easier for developers to build PHP applications that run on top of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
"Our updated development stacks for PHP simplify the process of developing applications that run in the cloud," said Daniel Lopez Ridruejo, the founder of BitRock, which develops BitNami. "Developers can use BitNami Stacks natively or in virtual machines for development on local machines and then deploy the same BitNami Stack to the Amazon cloud for testing and production purposes."
As explained on the Amazon Web Services website, "The AWS PHP SDK makes it easier for developers to build applications that tap into the cost-effective, scalable, and reliable AWS cloud. Using the SDK, developers can build solutions for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon SimpleDB, and more." The SDK includes a PHP library that allows developers to write to APIs, rather than having to write directly to Amazon's web services. It also includes code samples and Amazon's PEAR channel, which provides an easy way to install and update the SDK when new releases are made available.
BitNami has updated all of its PHP-based development stacks to include the new AWS PHP SDK. The stacks are available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X and give developers the choice of using either the MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
In addition to development stacks, BitNami offers over 25 easy to deploy packages of popular open source applications, such as Alfresco, Wordpress, Drupal, Dokuwiki and more. All of the BitNami Stacks are available free of charge as native installers, virtual machine images and cloud templates for the Amazon and GoGrid clouds.
BitNami.org simplifies the process of deploying and managing web applications natively, virtually and in the cloud. Each BitNami Stack contains an application that is fully integrated with all of the software it requires to run. BitNami Stacks are available free of charge as native installers, virtual machine images and cloud templates, so they can easily be deployed in any environment.
