Partnership enables software vendors to ship JBoss with their software in an easy-to-install package for multiple platforms.
San Francisco, CA. August 17, 2006. BitRock, Inc., the leading provider of custom open source stacks, announced today that it has partnered with JBoss, a division of Red Hat, Inc., to enable software vendors to ship a complete, easy-to-install package that includes their software and the JBoss® Application Server, along with other open source software. BitRock Custom Stacks with JBoss are available for Linux, Windows, Solaris and Mac OS X.
BitRock Custom Stacks are customized, integrated distributions of open source software, built around a software vendor's application. The stacks are packaged with BitRock installers, which step users through a fail-proof installation process. All necessary configuration, such as setting passwords and binding to the appropriate ports, is performed by the installer, so the user is 'up and running' with the software as soon as installation is completed.
"One of the biggest challenges of using open source software is getting all of the different components to work together." said Erica Brescia, VP of Business Development for BitRock. "By offering JBoss as a component for our Custom Stacks, we make it easy for users to install, configure, and integrate the world's most popular Java application server with other software."
With BitRock Custom Stacks for JBoss, ISVs embedding or bundling JBoss with their software can offer their customers a self-contained stack that will simplify deployment and speed time to market while reducing installation- related support requests.
"BitRock and JBoss share a common goal of making open source as easy to deploy and use as possible," said Tom Cooper, Vice President of Worldwide Channels, JBoss. "Solutions such as BitRock Custom Stacks further bring open source software to the mass market. We're pleased to partner with BitRock to provide ISVs with a simple, elegant solution for installing JBoss with their software."
Since launching BitRock LAMPStack and BitRock Custom Stacks over a year ago, BitRock has experienced a high and steadily growing demand, with several notable clients and tens of thousands of installations. "Time to market is critical for open source applications." commented Mike Moody, Vice President of Engineering for JasperSoft, "JasperSoft uses BitRock InstallBuilder to quickly create simple to use, multi-platform installers for JasperServer and JasperAnalysis. "As the leading solution for open source Business Intelligence, JasperSoft supports a complex combination of operating systems, application servers, and databases; including JBoss. BitRock makes this support easy to manage. In addition, cost-effective consulting services from BitRock have provided us with turn-key installers for a variety of commercial and open source platforms".
