The JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite is comprised of JasperReports, iReport, JasperServer, JasperAnalysis, and JasperETL. JasperReports is a pure Java reporting library that can be embedded into any host application to provide rich print and Web reporting and file output for further analysis. JasperServer can work as a standalone server or web services reporting engine and includes full support for PHP, Perl, Python, and other scripting languages. JasperAnalysis provides online analytical processing (OLAP) to capabilities to users and JasperETL enables developers to integrate data from more than 30 source and target RDBMS and file technologies. The JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite is available in either Open Source or commercial Professional editions. |

To meet the needs of its large and diverse customer base, the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite requires support for a large number of different operating system, database, and application server combinations. It is also built on top of other open source software, which is great for flexibility and cost reduction, but adds complexity to the installation process.

BitRock Solution: |
BitRock developed sophisticated installers for Linux, Windows, and Solaris that install and configure MySQL, Tomcat, and the JasperSoft client and server applications. End users have the option of either installing the bundled components, or connecting the JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite to existing database and Web server installations. This offers users flexibility, while still providing an automated, streamlined installation process that gets them up and running with a complete BI suite in a matter of minutes. As with other BitRock custom stacks, the installers include logic that prevents common installation errors, such as binding to a port that is in use, or mistyping a password.
