Systems Administrator
Contrary to popular belief, we *do* have electricity in southern Spain. In fact, at BitRock we have an interesting hardware and software setup, ranging from cutting edge server systems to legacy Unix machines to the odd Mac mini. Our complex multiplatform environment supports the creation of customized open source stacks and we are in search of a driven systems administrator to join the team responsible for improving and maintaining it.
Responsibilities:
- Work with other systems administrators to maintain and improve our automated build and testing environments.
- Implement security and backup best practices and policies.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain in-house and third-party applications for bug tracking, CRM and document management.
- Install and maintain hardware.
- Develop and maintain documentation for operating procedures.
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Must live in or be willing to relocate to Seville, Spain.
- A minimum of two years of experience managing Linux environments.
- Experience in compiling, installing and troubleshooting open source
applications, including Apache, PHP, Tomcat, MySQL.
- Fast learner, seeking constant self-improvement.
- Familiarity with shell script/Perl/Python or similar languages for
automating system administration tasks a plus.

Junior Systems Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Work with other system administrators to maintain and improve our automated build and testing environments.
- Implement security and backup best practices and policies.
- Installation, troubleshooting and on-going management of in-house and third-party applications for bug tracking, CRM and document management.
- Hardware installation and maintenance.
- Locating and negotiating with printers and manufacturers for marketing and promotional materials.
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- At least a year of experience managing Linux environments.
- Experience in compiling, installing and troubleshooting open source applications, including Apache, PHP, Tomcat, MySQL.
- Fast learner, seeking constant self-improvement.
- Familiarity with shell script/Perl/Python or similar languages for automating system administration tasks a plus.
